Season 4 Changes

Eric | April 24, 2008

Unfortunately there will be some changes to the Season 4 Epic rewards as you can read here on wow-insider.

The new Season 4 items will have the below personal and team arena rating requirements:

Shoulders: 2200
Weapon: 2050
Head: 1700
Chest: 1600
Legs: 1550
Gloves: none
Off-hand: none

This is bad news for everybody who doesn’t play with a cookie cutter setup, or who just isn’t very good as pvp. Teams below 1550 rating (the majority I would think) won’t get any rewards. This will probably change the Arena landscape, as I assume a lot of people will just not bother anymore with Arena. And this will leave the hardcore pvpers battling it out amongst themselves, and they might be struggling to get a decent rating.

Has Blizzard thought this through ? You would think so. I really wonder what the mindset it of the people that come up with this stuff…

Nice discussion on Tobold’s blog

Keep your esport out of battlegrounds

Unfortunatly? Sort of yes and sort of no. Unfortunate that nit

Unfortunatly? Sort of yes and sort of no.

Unfortunate that nit everyone can get S4, but hey S3 is not that bad either. Looking at PvE you dont see everyone running around in BT/MHJ stuff, but Kara and SSC/TK stuff is quite comon.
I can live with the idea to make a set so tough obtainable that we again get a some sort of “elite” status. like back in the days of the Grand Marshal status. Something to compete for. Right now Arena;s are so flawed in their setup that anyone can obtain the full S3 set, be it by wintrading or teamsellig or just plain hard work.

But in the end I like the idea of some items in the game that can set some people appart from the rest, bet it the High end PvE raiders or the best of the PvP persons.

Thing is though that by the end of season 3

Thing is though that by the end of season 3 you have enough to buy that stuff, so if you participate in S4, you don’t have anything besides boots to spend it on. And the gear gap will get bigger and bigger. It’s not much fun being globbered 3 times in a row by the same team against whom you don’t stand a chance.
